Description
Two traditional bar appetizers just got a major makeover with this recipe. How about instead of choosing between jalapeno poppers or buffalo chicken wings, you just get both in one dish? Talk about a match made in heaven. Add some creamy ranch or blue cheese dressing on the side, and you are good to go!
Ingredients
- 10 large jalapeno peppers, halved lengthwise and seeded
- 8 ounces ground chicken
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon fine sea salt
- 4 ounces cream cheese (½ cup), softened
- ½ cup crumbled blue cheese, divided
- ¼ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ¼ cup buffalo wing sauce
- 4 strips bacon, cooked crisp and crumbled
- 2 green onions, sliced, for garnish
- Ranch dressing, for serving
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a rimmed baking sheet with a silicone baking mat or parchment paper. Spread the jalapeño halves across the baking sheet.
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat. To the skillet, add the chicken, garlic, onion powder, and sea salt. Sauté until the chicken is no longer pink and is cooked all the way through.
- Transfer the cooked chicken to a large mixing bowl and add the cream cheese, ¼ cup of the blue cheese crumbles, mozzarella cheese, and Buffalo wing sauce. Mix until all of the ingredients are well combined.
- Fill each jalapeno with a mound of the chicken mixture. Top with the remaining ¼ cup of blue cheese crumbles and bacon.
- Bake for 30 minutes, until the top is golden brown.
- Top with green onions before serving.
Notes
TIP: If you cannot find ground chicken at your local grocery store, feel free to substitute ground turkey.

Just started eating one of these straight from the oven. They are amazing and delicious. Nothing missing from a taste standpoint. I highly recommend a quality blue cheese. I had an excellent one from my local cheese guy and crumbled it myself. Excellent!!! Thanks for this wonderful recipe.

These are fantastic! Everyone loved them! So delicious!
I used shredded chicken, because I already had some cooked inland in the freezer. So I went ahead and put it in the skillet and melted the cream cheese in on medium heat. I also added a bit of sour cream to make it thinner/creamier, because I think I had too much chicken. All of this to say that even with a couple of minor variations these were easy and SUCH a good appetizer! Thank you for the recipe!

Sorry about the typo! (Cooked and in the freezer)

These were amazing!!!!!

These were so good! I had a pile of jalapeños from my garden that I needed to do something with and this was it. I also used a banana pepper and it was amazing, too. I didn’t use chicken, bacon or blue cheese. I used Taco Bell ranch cheese and mozzarella and upped the buffalo sauce. I also over stuffed them and forgot to set the timer so they got a bit over cooked and some of the filling came out. That’s how I’m going to make them all the time...I’m putting that in my recipe card so I don’t forget! I ate every one of them (I hadn’t eaten anything today) I was done with them before I realized I forgot to put the onions on or take a pic. Next time. Thanks for the recipe!!

My family doesn’t like blue cheese. Do you think feta is a good substitute?
Debbie says
Just leave it out. You can put more of another cheese in it. Try a few with feta. You could divide the filling and try different cheese combinations.. Jack would be good. These are so good and I didn’t use blue cheese either.

These were the BOMB! Literally, so hot, but so good! Will change up by chopping up Jalepeno and make a dip for Pork Rinds.
